The Official Newsletter of the BAA Edited by Lee Adams BAA Chairman

Issue No 1 October 2020

BAA Club News

Having been in some form of lockdown since March 2020 Aikido clubs have found it difficult or impossible the remain open. The BAA are working on a support package for clubs wanting assistance. A standard package may not suit the variance of restrictions across the UK so each request will be assessed on a case by case basis. A decision has also been made to extend any in date members whose membership fell due from 1 st April 2020 through to 31st December 2020 by 12 months.

For those that are able to train adhering to COVID safe guidance the BAA public liability and P2P insurance remains valid. Paul Holding is in charge of monitoring coaching qualifications and regulations. If you have any queries with regards either your personal or club status, please contact Paul via email – clo@britishaikidoassociation.co.uk

BAA Membership portal

During the last EC I have now authorised a working group to implement a move to an online membership portal. Subject to the final step of due diligence and approval of cost to the BAA, it is hoped that this will be available by the end of 2020. This means club coaches will have access to club membership information, and members will have access to grading records, competition and seminar history and tracked membership status all at the touch of a button or the click of a mouse.

Diary Dates for 2021

As you will be aware all activities have be suspended until 2021 the EC are currently working on a list of activities for 2021.

National Squad

Natuley Smalle is the new National Team manager and has already arranged the first virtual meeting for all those interested in attending squad sessions in 2021, please contact Natuley directly for further details on ntm@britishaikidoassociation.co.uk

Online training

A number of coaches are delivering Zoom classes to their respective clubs. I have asked that they consider opening these up to every BAA member as we move through the ever changing challenges of lockdown/restrictions. If you are interested please contact the BAA General Secretary on gs@britishaikidoassociation.co.uk for a list of available classes.
